I always like to remind people that, yes the lights in Squamish may cause jams. But the alternatives can have a lasting impact in other respects. Most would suggest a express route around town, or creating a overpass system. These may relieve the jams in traffic but could spell the undoing for a place such as Squamish. Back here in Michigan it's the story of many small villages and towns. The main drags used to go through town but then were bi-passed in favor of a traffic friendly alt. Then the commerce dries up and the small buisnesses start to close and a once lively area becomes a area of old run down buildings that can't sustain. Just food for thought.
