You’re missing out, and so am I…

Why do athletes always talk about how sport affects their life, but rarely acknowledge how life affects their sport? In other words, how do all the things you’re dealing with in life affect how you experience and perform in sport? Life and sport cannot be separated, they intimately inform each other whether you know it or not.

By deeply exploring this question I discovered a very important truth, my growth and development as a human being directly affects not just my experience in sport, but THE AMOUNT I am capable of experiencing during sport. I like to think of it as bandwidth, naturally I want more of it, and like anything worthwhile, it takes time and practice to develop.

As bandwidth grows, so does banddepth, in other words the highs I experience in sport are more deeply meaningful, much more so than those I experienced performing outrageous stunts as a younger pro. This developmental truth is GREAT NEWS! But it’s not always easy…

I’m a technical athlete, hyper sensitive to form, by joining Real Action Athletes you’ll be challenged with this physical guidance in my yoga and meditation classes; you’ll also be challenged mentally, and I’m not just talking about will power, but rather a whole range of developmental qualities such as emotion, somatic (i.e.: mind/body awareness), interpersonal, moral, cognitive, spiritual (i.e.: the s**t that matters in your life).

So I’m missing out too, but when looking back over 14 years of yoga practice and 7 years of meditation practice it’s clear how being dedicated to those practices has increased my capacity to be alive, awake, and full as an athlete and human being. So I’m going to keep practicing to serve my sport-life connection, and hope you’ll join me for the ride! More Details Here…
